The steak dinner served here at the VFW Post 4174 in Lehigh Acres was a special treat for many Valentines. Here at our Post, we have some darned good cooks who volunteer their time to feed , not just our members, but anyone of the public who wishes to stop by for a bite.

We are going to be having a painting session on Sunday, the 18th, and no, it’s not the walls or floors who will be the recipients! Members will have the opportunity to paint an actual canvas of either a sunset or a gnome in a class and we will also be enjoying some refreshments to help ensure we can hold up those paintbrushes. That class was filled almost immediately after it was announced and we are looking forward to our first time doing something like this.

Saturday, March 2, is going to be a filled, fun day for our Post. We are having an auction, a hog roast and a bake sale. We have a member who is so good at making cakes she could give lessons to Martha Stewart and we are always so happy when she gladly donates her creations for our sales. And, we are definitely anxiously awaiting the hog roast and are wondering who is the chef doing the cooking!

What else is so exciting about having the auction is that it will give many of us a chance to get in our attics or garages to find some interesting items to donate! We are not accepting any clothing or furniture though, so those will have to go to Hearts and Homes, which is an organization that provides for homeless veterans. The auction will start at 2:00 p.m. and we would welcome the public too! Our location is 25 S. Homestead Road in Lehigh acres. In case you haven’t been here yet, we are the Little Post with a Big Heart!

There will be many more interesting events coming up in the near future, and of course, we will continue with our regular Bingos, meals, music and meetings.
