Gulf Coast Symphony to stage ‘The Music Man’ for two nights, March 23-24

The Music Man makes a triumphant return to Barbara B Man Performing Arts Hall with Gulf Coast Symphony for two performances on Saturday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 24 at 7 p.m.
The symphony-backed production features many Broadway veterans and frequent symphony collaborators, such as Punta Gorda Native, Joseph Spieldenner as con man Harold Hill and Siri Howard as Marian Paroo. Rounding out the cast are Edward Juvier as Marcellus Washburn, Paul Gaffy as Mayor George Shinn, Mary Stout as Eulalie Mackecknie Smith, and Susan Dohan as Mrs. Paroo. Making their Barbara B. Mann, and Gulf Coast Symphony debut, are Dylan Alvarez as Winthrop, Sydney Butler as Amaryllis, and Macy Mags as Zaneeta Shinn.
One of the most universally cherished treasures of American musical theater, The Music Man was an instant hit when it premiered on Broadway on Dec. 19, 1957. It went on to win five Tony Awards®, including Best Musical, and ran for 1,375 performances. The Smithsonian Institution ranks The Music Man as one of the “great glories” of American popular culture. Filled with toe-tapping tunes and heart warming moments, The Music Man is a timeless celebration of the power of music and the magic of redemption.
