The Fort Myers Film Festival, commencing its 14th annual event on May 22 at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, will recognize Sheriff Carmine Marceno with the Community Protector Achievement Award at the kickoff Sipping with the Stars Soiree.
Sheriff Marceno, who is prominently featured in two films showcased at this year’s Fort Myers Film Festival, will be lauded for his exceptional dedication to safeguarding the community during and following Hurricane Ian, as well as his ongoing humanitarian endeavors in collaboration with various organizations assisting those most vulnerable in our community. There will be a red carpet rollout for all attendees starting Wednesday, May 22 at 6 p.m. The award ceremony will take place on 7 p.m. at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center.
Sheriff Marceno will join a distinguished roster of celebrities, stars, and filmmakers prior to the award ceremony, inside for a private reception benefiting nonprofits at 5 p.m. prior to the commencement of the red carpet event marking the launch of the Fort Myers Film Festival. The Fort Myers Film Festival will be benefiting several nonprofits this year including Florida Arts Inc., #KindLee, Raddatz Foundation, FODASA and Kimmie’s Recovery Zone.
Sheriff Marceno’s impactful role in the community is showcased in the Fort Myers film “Spirit of Recovery,” directed by Southwest Florida filmmaker John Biffar. The screening is scheduled for Friday, May 23 at 7 p.m., also at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center. His steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents under his purview is highlighted in the film “Changing a Community,” slated for Friday, May 23 at 5 p.m. This film offers a comprehensive exploration of the transformative initiatives undertaken by Al Kinkle and Kimmie’s Recovery Zone, focusing on community education, outreach programs, and peer-based recovery support services.
