During the month of June, our calendar is filled with some important meetings, such as the big Convention in Orlando from June 13 through the 16th. There was also a Town Hall/House Committee meeting, the Auxiliary monthly meeting, the Post meeting and the one for the Riders. Our DAV is “on vacation” until start up which will be again in September. The CTS had one on the 5th and the next one is the 19th at 6:30 p.m.

Even though many of our members went back up north, we still have all our normal activities going on and are looking forward to the opening of our outdoor smoking lounge! In July, smoking will no longer be allowed inside the building and our members will be parking in the back of the post and entering in the back door to avoid having to travel through smoke. It has been a long time coming, but the completion is very close.

We are still hoping for volunteers to step up and offer to assist with cooking a meal particularly on a Saturday, helping with the different committees especially since July will be the start of all the new officers, working on recruiting new and younger members along with the veterans who served in any past war and haven’t joined yet, participants in the many different activities which are all still done every week and even those who might offer some entertainment!

While our Post is small, we are well known as “The Little Post with the Big Heart’ because of our many committees which benefit our community. We have been in the area since 1967 and are proud to be known as a Purple Heart Post. Our members who received the Purple Heart give extra meaning to “serving their country” and we are so happy they belong to us!

All of our members are still dedicated to the service of our country, the community and our Post. They swore an oath and by their continued participation in the events and ceremonies which are performed here, they show their continual commitment to that oath.
