Commemoration ceremony to honor the victims of Sept. 11 to be held in Lehigh Acres Wednesday

By Staff | Sep 10, 2024

23 years after the terror attacks on America, citizens of Lehigh Acres will come together in a commemoration ceremony to honor the victims of Sept. 11, 2001.

The commemoration ceremony honors the victims of the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, airline flight takeovers, and the American military service personnel who have died in the war against terrorism while other members of the service continue to fight.

American Legion posts across America are energizing their communities to ensure that the innocent victims will never be forgotten.

“We must never forget all those who gave their lives for this great country,” Post Commander Dean said. “Everyone in Lehigh Acres is invited to join this uniting ceremony.”

The ceremony will begin with recognition of emergency service personnel who have remained strong throughout the attack on America, all while upholding the honor of patriotism.

Please join us as we place the ceremonial wreath and toll the bell to commemorate past warfighters who are now deceased.

“This ceremony will not only honor those who have died but also those who live and continue to fight for the freedom of this great nation,” American Legion Post 323 Commander Dean said. “As a nation united, we must remain committed to supporting the men and women of our armed forces, first responders, and ALL in uniform, as they serve with honor and courage.”

The commemoration will commence at 4:30 p.m. in the banquet hall at American Legion Post 323, in Lehigh Acres, 1124 Ashlar Ave., behind Burger King.
