The Great American Cleanup, the nation’s largest annual litter cleanup and community improvement initiative, was once again a powerful force for positive change in Lee County. Organized locally by Keep Lee County Beautiful, Inc., the 2025 cleanup brought together hundreds of volunteers on March 31 across 14 locations in Southwest Florida.
Together, these dedicated community members collected 6,840 pounds of litter and debris from beaches, parks, roadways, neighborhoods, and waterways–demonstrating the collective impact of people committed to protecting their local environment.
Part of the Keep America Beautiful® national movement, the Great American Cleanup unites thousands of communities every spring in efforts to clean, restore, and renew public spaces. In Lee County, the event serves as a meaningful opportunity to connect people with purpose through environmental action.
“At Keep Lee County Beautiful, we believe that strong communities begin with a deep connection to the places we call home,” said Trish Fancher, executive director. “The Great American Cleanup shows how powerful it can be when people unite with a shared purpose–to protect, preserve, and take pride in our environment.”
KLCB’s mission is to inspire, educate, and engage residents in the stewardship of Lee County’s natural beauty.
