GCHS Adoptions Lobby to undergo renovations; adoptions by appointment only through June

By Staff | Jun 16, 2022

The Gulf Coast Humane Society’s Adoption Lobby will be undergoing a full renovation through the month of June, and to handle the lost space, adoptions will be by appointment only.

During construction, GCHS is asking the public to schedule appointments to meet the shelter animals by emailing adoptiondesk@gulfcoasthumanesociety.org.

Registered volunteers are still welcome to help walk the shelter dogs and other various duties, with gates opening at 8 a.m. each day. Volunteer orientations will also be suspended for June, as well, due to space limitations during the renovations.

“This June is special for us here at the Gulf Coast Humane Society, with both our Adoption lobby and cat adoption areas receiving a wonderful refresh,” said GCHS Executive Director Gary Willoughby. “This was made possible through support of Rescue Rebuild, a program of Greater Good Charities. Throughout much of the month of June, the dust will be flying as the lobby and cat areas get a much-

needed makeover, improving the housing for our animals and for the visitors to our facility as well.”

The renovation will include a new adoption desk, new flooring, and major improvements to the cat adoption areas.

“Even better, they will be back again in November for some important facility improvements to our dog adoption area too,” Willoughby said. “So many people in our community have signed up to volunteer to help with this big effort and we are very appreciative of all of them.”

Adoptable shelter dogs and cats can be found on the GCHS website at www.gulfcoasthumanesociety.org.

Adoptions by appointments began June 7, and run through the month of June.

The Spay and Neuter Clinic will be running normal hours, as will the GCHS Veterinary Clinic.
