Symphony to sponsor competitions for young people

The Southwest Florida Symphony, the Symphony Society, Jillian Prescott Memorial Fund and Joseph and Marilyn Van Sickle will sponsor the upcoming Young Artist Competitions on February 4 and 5 at the FGCU Bower School of Music Recital Hall. Students will compete for scholarship money and for the winner will have an opportunity to perform with the Southwest Florida Symphony next season.

Chloe Thominet, Jillian Prescott Music Award Winner 2011 will be performing with the Symphony on Friday January 27 at the Masterworks 3, Discovery Concert.

The competitions are free and open for the public, said Mary Larkins, Southwest Florida Symphony's public relations spokeswoman.
