Arts of the Inland to display work at Keiser
The Arts of the Inland will participate with Keiser University at the grand opening of its Forum campus from 5-7 pm. today, Oct. 17, at 9100 Forum Corporate Parkway, Fort Myers. Keiser has donated permanent galley display space for the visual artist of Arts of the Inland. This is an opportunity for Arts of the Inland members to showcase their artist experience with the students and public. The art work will rotate monthly.
Archers registering new participants
The Lee County Archers are registering new participants. The following events take place at the Nalle Grade County Park Range in North Fort Myers:
- Oct. 18: The public is invited from 2-8 p.m. Open ranges include a 20-yard lighted covered pavilion, a 30- to 80-yard lighted outdoor range, and a 28-target field range.
- Oct. 21: 3D Archery Shoot, hosted by the Lee County Archers. A roving field range consisting of 20 3D target stations, and a 14-station N.F.A.A. field course. Sign up from 8-8:30 a.m.; shotgun start at 9 a.m. A $10 shooting fee applies.
- Nov. 4: 900 Round at 9 a.m.

Rep. Caldwell to speak to Lehigh women's club
The October meeting for General Women's Club of Lehigh Acres will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 19 at Faith Lutheran Church on Leeland Heights Boulevard. State Rep. Matt Caldwell, of Lehigh Acres, will be the speaker.
The General Women's Club of Lehigh Acres will hold its annual luncheon and card party/game day from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at Faith Lutheran Church, at 705 Leeland Heights Blvd. A donation of $7 will benefit the General Women's Club's scholarship fund. Destiny Ministries giving away children's clothing
A free clothing giveaway for children will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Destiny Ministries of Southwest Florida Center, at 11440 Metro Parkway, Fort Myers.
Bring a local photo identification and birth certificate for each child to benefit. St. Andrew's Catholic School in Cape Coral is assisting with the giveaway.

ABWA sets fashion show
The Lehigh Acres chapter of ABWA will host its Lights, Camera, Fashion show on Oct. 27 at the Colonial Country Club, at 9175 Independence Way, Fort Myers. It supports scholarships for Lehigh Acres residents.
Luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. and will include a silent and Chinese auction. Fashions provided by Denimianco Boutique and Pinkies Boutique, with jewelry by Parklane. There will be celebrity look-a-likes.

Lehigh pool, Kiwanis Club to hold fund-raiser
The Lehigh Acres Community Pool Project and Lehigh Kiwanis Club are partnering in a "Water Bottle Contest" fund-raiser.
Two competitions are being held, "Best Decorated Bottle" and "Most Monies Raised." Money raised will be used to enhance the swimming experience at the pool.
Contestants should submit their water bottle entries by 3 p.m. Oct. 27 to the Lehigh Acres Pool Project tent at the Make a Difference Day celebration at Veterans Park.

Residents can apply for Thanksgiving baskets
The public can apply for free Thanksgiving baskets from Oct. 29 to Nov. 9 at the Lehigh Community Services office, at 201 Plaza Drive. Applicants can fill out a form at the office to see if they qualify.
Last year, close to 300 families were given baskets with food and certificates. Several organizations have donated food and gift certificates this year.
To contribute a turkey, organizers suggest buying a gift certificate, especially for turkey, at one of the local supermarkets. People can also donate canned goods to go with it.
Aviation Day to benefit Harry Chapin Food Bank
Aviation Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3 at Page Field in Fort Myers. Hosted by the Lee County Port Authority, the event aims to raise awareness of Southwest Florida International Airport and Page Field.
Admission is free, but visitors can bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Last year, attendees donated more than 2,100 pounds of food and $1,176, which provided more than $7,000 in food to families.

Veteran's Park art show scheduled
The Veteran's Park Annual Art Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3-4. Artists, photographers, authors and craftsmen associated with Arts of the Inland and the Art Council of Southwest Florida will be on display. Free admission to bonsai show, sale
The Annual Bonsai Show & Sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17-18 at the Lee County Election Center, at 13180 Cleveland Ave. S., Fort Myers. Cponsored by the Bonsai Society of Southwest Florida, event admission and parking are free.
The event will feature bonsai exhibits and critiques, workshops and demonstrations, raffles, silent auctions, and sales of bonsai trees and supplies. Vendors will be present to assist buyers with bonsai needs and supplies.
Ed Trout, Toby Diaz, Ernie Fernandez, Mike Feduccia, Mike Cartrett and Dorothy Schmitz, all renowned bonsai artists, will be available to give lectures and provide demonstrations.
