Cape’s Festival of Lights set for Saturday

The Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral will present the CenturyLink Holiday Festival of Lights on Saturday, Dec. 1, on Cape Coral Parkway between Southeast 15th Ave. (Wendy’s) to Candia Street (Burger King) from 4 to 10 p.m.

For more than 20 years South Cape has been home to Southwest Florida’s largest annual holiday event.

“The CenturyLink Holiday Festival of Lights is one of those great events that bring our community together every year, said Brian Hamman, CenturyLink. “Chamber staff and volunteers do a wonderful job putting it together and we’re proud to be a part of it.”

Santa will arrive between 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.at Big John’s Town Center across from McDonalds on Cape Coral Parkway. The sponsor is LCEC.

Also featured will be the popular Slowdrift Slide on Cape Coral Parkway on the open lot beside Wendy’s restaurant.The slide will be open from 4-10 p.m. The sponsor is Vapin’ In The Cape.

The Tiny Tots Train will run on Cape Coral Parkway on the open lot beside Wendy’s restaurant from 4 – 10 p.m. The sponsor is the Kiwanis Club of Cape Coral.

Kidz Street & Not in My City Campaign on Cape Coral Parkway at Leonard Street from 4 to 10 p.m.featuring six free inflatable attractions and free children arts and crafts.

The sponsor is Cape Christian

A Gift Basket Auction will be held at Cape Coral Parkway & Vincennes Blvd. from 4 p.m.-8:30 p.m. The sponsor is the Education Committee Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral. More than 40 donated holiday gift baskets worth at least $100 will be auctioned with all money raised going to providing scholarships for local area high school seniors. The auction raised more than $4,400 in 2011

Other attractions include live entertainment with more than 20 holiday performances from local groups, dance troupes and schools
