GAEA Guides offers outdoor kayak tours

GAEA Guides announces the following events:

- Dec. 6: Imperial River and Estero Bay kayak tour from Bonita Beach from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wander around the mangrove islands at the mouth of the Imperial River where it meets Estero Bay. Many birds and fish live in this area - dolphin and manatees too. Also, once in a while, a rare, endangered American crocodile is spotted here where the fresh water meets the salt. Cost is $50 per person.

- Dec. 7: Hickey's Creek kayak tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fort Myers. Paddle on the Caloosahatchee River, visiting the ancient oxbows and then up Hickey's Creek - a beautiful creek with lovely plants, turtles, fish and birds. Very clear - you can see the fish and vegetation on the bottom. Our destination will be Hickey's Creek Park, where we will eat our lunches, see some of the beauty of the park and then leisurely paddle back out to the river. Cost is $55 per person.

- Dec. 7: Sunset/bird rookery kayak tour on the Caloosahatchee River from 3-6 p.m. Fort Myers. Paddle on the Caloosahatchee and some wild creeks with 1000s of birds. Learn about the plants and animals that are in this part of our estuary. Great view of the sunset. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 8: Estuary kayak tour in Estero Bay from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bonita Beach. Learn about the wonders of America's only Mangrove Forest. See herons, egrets, pelicans, osprey, roseate spoonbills, dolphins, manatees and more. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 9: Manatee kayak tour on wild creeks and rivers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Get up close and personal with these gentle giants and learn about their history, habitat and habits. Learn about the history of these waterways and other fascinating facts about this area and the birds, plants and animals that call it home. Cost is $50 per person.

- Dec. 10: Kayak clinic at Four Mile Cove Ecological Park in Cape Coral from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn the basics of kayaking safety and paddling. We start on land with basic kayak and safety information then on to the water instruction. After that you will get to practice your new skills and go for a paddle in the park. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 10: Peace River and Hunter Creek estuary bird rookery kayak tour from 2-5 p.m. Punta Gorda. Wilderness and birds on the Peace River and its tributaries. Quiet and lovely. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 11: Estuary kayak tour in Estero Bay from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bonita Beach. Learn about the wonders of America's only Mangrove Forest. See herons, egrets, pelicans, osprey, roseate spoonbills, dolphins, manatees and more. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 12: Cocohatchee River/Wiggins Pass estuary kayak tour from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. North Naples. This is a beautiful estuary area, with mangroves and many birds, dolphins, manatees and other critters. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 13: Mound Key and the estuary of Estero Bay from Coconut Point in Bonita Springs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will visit Mound Key, the capital of the Calusa Civilization. Hear stories of the Calusa natives and see this amazing archeological site where they lived for 1000s of years. The estuary is abundant with life - many birds and marine creatures. Cost is $75 per person.

- Dec. 14: Estuary kayak tour on the east side of Estero Bay from Coconut Point in Bonita Springs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A great area to learn about Florida's First Aquatic Preserve. This estuary is abundant with life - many birds and marine creatures. Wander around secluded mangrove lagoons and tunnels. Hear stories of the Calusa natives that lived in this area for 1000s of years. Cost is $45 per person.

Learn about the history of these waterways and other fascinating facts about this area and the birds, plants and animals that call it home. Cost is $50 per person.

- Dec. 17: Kayak Alligator Creek in Punta Gorda from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a beautiful creek that is part of Charlotte Harbor Estuary. See the transition from fresh water to salt. Lots of fish and birds feed on this creek. Learn about the estuary, the "cradle" of the ocean, and the important mangrove forest. Cost is $50 per person.

- Dec. 18: Estuary kayak tour in Estero Bay from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bonita Beach. Learn about the wonders of America's only Mangrove Forest. See herons, egrets, pelicans, osprey, roseate spoonbills, dolphins, manatees and more. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 19: Cocohatchee River/Wiggins Pass estuary kayak tour from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. North Naples. This is a beautiful estuary area, with mangroves and many birds, dolphins, manatees and other critters. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 19: Bat kayak tour in North Fort Myers from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Visit a lovely creek in the wilderness of North Fort Myers. This is part of our estuary system, with many plants and animals. At dusk we will see the bats come out of their hiding places. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 20: Archeological aayak and site tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bokeelia. Learn about our ancient native Calusa civilization by taking a guided tour of the Calusa Heritage Trail at the Pineland site complex. Then paddle on the grass flats of Pine Island Sound like the Calusa did. See a variety of birds, sponges, fish, soft corals, bottom dwelling creatures, dolphin and sometimes manatee. Cost is $60 per person.

- Dec. 21: Estuary kayak tour on the east side of Estero Bay from Coconut Point in Bonita Springs. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A great area to learn about Florida's First Aquatic Preserve. - Dec. 23: Manatee kayak tour on wild creeks and rivers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Get up close and personal with these gentle giants and learn about their history, habitat and habits. Learn about the history of these waterways and other fascinating facts about this area and the birds, plants and animals that call it home. Cost is $50 per person.

- Dec. 24: Kayak Shell Creek in Punta Gorda from 2:30-5:30 p.m. This is a beautiful, undisturbed creek with many cypress and large oak trees, lots of fish and birds feed from this creek. This is one of the only areas that we see the rare Limpkin. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 26: Cocohatchee River/Wiggins Pass estuary kayak tour from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. North Naples. This is a beautiful estuary area, with mangroves and many birds, dolphins, manatees and other critters. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 26: Full moon/sunset/bird rookery kayak tour on the Caloosahatchee River near Fort Myers from 3-6 p.m. Paddle on the Caloosahatchee and some wild creeks with 1000s of birds going to roost for the night. This area is a perfect place to see sunset and moonrise. Cost is $40 per person.

- Dec. 27: Full moon kayak tour on Estero Bay from 3-6 p.m. Coconut Point in Bonita Springs. Watch day turn to dusk on the waters of spectacular Estero Bay. See the sun set and then the moon rise. Day birds feed for the last time and then the evening birds come out. Paddle in the moonlight. Cost is $40 per person.

Tour costs include all necessary equipment and a Florida Master Naturalist as a guide.
