Relay for Life yard sale

A yard sale to benefit the Lehigh Acres "Relay for Life" will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 13, 14 and 15 on Sheldon Avenue, off of Joel Boulevard and Sixth Street.

Jewelry armoire, jewelry, desk, shoes, socks, sandals, sheets, clothing, luggage, bikes, helmets, housewares, audio books, VCR movies, records, old German records and more will be available. Some items brand new good for last-minute Christmas gifts.

All monies go to the American Cancer Society.

Archers registering new participants

The Lee County Archers are registering new participants. The following events take place at the Nalle Grade County Park Range in North Fort Myers:

- Dec. 13: Public is invited from 2-8 p.m. Open ranges include a 20-yard lighted covered pavilion, a 30- to 80-yard lighted outdoor range and a 28-target field range.

- Dec. 16: A 3D Archery Shoot. A roving field range consisting of 20 3D target stations and a 14-station N.F.A.A. field course. Sign up from 8-8:30 a.m., with shotgun start at 9 a.m. A $10 shooting fee applies.

- Jan: 6: 900 Round at 9 a.m.

Christmas Dinner Dance planned

The General Women's Club will host its Annual Christmas Dinner Dance from 6-10 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Myers. Music will be provided by Jerry Ward. Crash course in veggie gardening

Thought about veggie gardening, but do not know how to start? Tried a garden, but it failed? Have a question about your garden?

Come join other gardeners at 11 a.m. Dec. 15 for a free class at the outdoor pavilion at Veterans Park, at 55 Homestead Road S. Class will be taught be adult and 4-H Lehigh Acres Edible Gardening Exchange members.

Bring questions, a notepad and a chair. There will be limited picnic table seating. To reserve a seat, call (610) 530-8883.

Chamber announces decoration contest

The Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce is hosting for the third year the Annual Christmas Decoration Contest, sponsored by Fun Biz Charter.

After the judging Dec. 21, the list of the 10 best houses will be published on the chamber Web site at: www.LehighAcresChamber.org and families have the chance to take a trip trough Lehigh Acres to see all the Christmas decorations.

The winner will be honored with a plaque and recognition.

Ethnic Bake Sale set

All Saints Catholic Church on Bayshore Road will have an Ethnic Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 22. Several ethnic baked goods will be available such as nut rolls, poppy seed rolls, cookies, a variety of breads, six varieties of Pirohi and stuffed cabbage.

Lee County Community Band to perform

The Lee County Community Band will perform Jan. 13, Feb. 10, March 10 and April 7 at Cape Coral High School, at 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd. The events are free of charge, though donations are accepted.

Band members are musicians from all walks of life - career musicians, amateurs and folks renewing skills from years past - who reside in Lee, Collier, and Charlotte counties. The band rehearses from 7-9 p.m. Thursdays at St. Michael's Lutheran School in Fort Myers; new members are welcome.

Annual craft show seeking vendors

The Alva Community Center is looking for craft vendors for its upcoming Craft Show, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Alva Community Park, at 21471 North River Road in Alva.

Spaces are available for a nominal fee of $10. Tables, tents and chairs are not provided. There is no admission for the public to attend.
