The Rev. Dr. Wilford Nelson is being remembered this week by his wife, Ouida Nelson, near the anniversary of his death.
He was 79 when he died, Monday, May 3, 2010. Three years later, his wife has planned a memoriam in honor of him.
He was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Jamaica in the West Indies.

He was the district superintendent of the churches of the Nazarene and guidance counselor at the Balaclava Secondary School, Boys Scout commissioner and president of the Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife; children, Andrew (Carmella), Corinne (Kevin) Burton, Athol and Stacey Stallings (Terrence); grandchildren, Gabrielle, Joshua, Kevin, Amy, Nathaniel, Olivia and Sophia; sister, Elfreda Russell; and several nieces and nephews.
A service was held May 10, 2010, at the Lehigh Acres Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Steve Cecil, senior pastor, officiating.
