Lehigh Acres Citizen

On a quiet Southwest Cape Coral street, there is a destination place that is bustling from open until close six days a week. Although it holds a lot of diners, it is not intrusive, merely inclusive. If you want a private, quiet place to listen to soft music, this is not it, but if you want a place to grab a great meal in a fun atmosphere, come to Richee B's!

Managing Partner Richee Boye is as enthusiastic as a young boy in talking about his dream that has come to fruition.

"We opened this restaurant on a shoestring diet and aren't wealthy corporate guys. I have lived here since 1976 when my family moved here.

The dcor and multiple TVs from every angle allow for maximum viewing and lots of fun at Richee B’s on 16th Place. The popular restaurant is open Monday- Friday 3 p.m. to close and Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to close. They also offer lots of specials: Nightly specials Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday Happy Hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and, for those in the hospitality industry, a special nightly two-for-one drink special 10 p.m. to close. (Bring pay stub or a work/uniform shirt.)

"My background in the sports restaurant business started at 21, and I have done everything from bartending to marketing. About 12-15 years ago, I developed a crazy passion for cooking and it overtook me. I am seriously self-taught and have spent countless hours developing tastes and profiles that I like. My original goal was to open a catering business and we saw this restaurant so I developed a team and we started with the restaurant at the location that it is in.

"The building was exactly what I was looking for in the combination of restaurants in one location. I remember so many times when it was hard to choose a restaurant because someone wanted good steak, someone wanted a good burger and someone wanted a great pizza. We wanted the concept that you could pull up to this location and have a choice of pizzeria or a sports restaurant to have prime rib."

Richee B's, at 4703 S.W. 16th Place, is a sports restaurant serving excellent prime rib, tots and more. Yes, tots tater tots, that is. Richee and his partner originated the tots idea at a rock and roll bar that they had in South Fort Myers by FGCU College.

"We had a great group of college kids who frequented the restaurant that were on a budget and were looking for inexpensive items on the menu. I was watching TV in the middle of the night and got out of bed and created a menu of over 150 varieties of tots. One night I put out tots prepared in a variety of ways - we introduced 10 in 2008 and they were very popular because they were inexpensive to make to cater to our college kid crowd. We are constantly coming up with different ideas for new tots and currently have 28 on the menu but have over 100 created and we add two new ones a month."

The menu is extensive but following a theme of products and consistency. According to Richee, "The two main things we do are prime rib and tots. We serve fresh, slow-roasted prime rib every day and have created a whole line of prime rib items. Our menu items are used in multiple ways. We roast 30-40 pounds of pork weekly that we use in multiple ways."

The menu is easy to read - you choose what type of food you want and there is a menu for it. The Prime Rib menu offers three different sizes of Richee B's signature prime rib entre and some unusual ideas like prime rib egg rolls, prime rib sliders, prime rib tots benedict, stew, roast and gravy, French dip and a Prime Rib Philly.

Crust Pizzeria is in the same building as Richee B's but designed as a place to sit and grab a pie. The menu is large and you can choose specialties or make your own. There are appetizers and salads like the Caprese Salad (mixed greens with fresh mozzarella, homemade tomato bruschetta and artichoke hearts) or one of 33 specialty pizzas that make your mouth water when you read them like the new Reuben Pizza (Thousand Island base, Swiss cheese, Crust's cheese blend, corned beef, sauerkraut, finished with pickle pieces and a Thousand Island dressing drizzle).

Richee is proud of their pizza menu.

"Our pizza repertoire is unique. Pizza dough and sauces are made fresh every day. We spent eight months developing the pizza before we even shared it with our testers.

"We make our New York style pizza with crispy outside crust and chewy interior. I want it to be oily and gooey like a traditional New York Pizza. Specialty pizzas - we have a lot of specialty pizzas and feel that they are unique. If someone comes in and asks us, we say to start with cheese and work your way up. We have a unique Philly Cheese pizza that is unbelievable. We even offer a breakfast pizza, which is a white pizza with breakfast sausage. We serve over 10 different styles of white pizza. We take a gallon of fresh garlic, soak it in olive oil and roast it daily. Our pizzas are not on the dry side like many white pizzas.

"Our calzones and strombolis are made out of the same fresh pizza dough. We use a cheese blend of four cheeses, including two different mozzarellas (buffalo and traditional). Subs are traditional Italian subs. Our bread (called Amoroso rolls, a traditional Italian sub roll) is brought from New Jersey call and is a traditional Italian sub roll."

The Pasta, Bowls and Seafood menu offers "pasta your way," consisting of a choice of five pastas, six sauces and six proteins (meatball, sausage, chicken, shrimp, scallops or mussels). Choose from one of the six pasta entrees like Shells in a Pink Clam Sauce (chopped clams in a light tomato-clam broth with white wine and garlic. Served with shells and you can add shrimp, scallops or mussels if you choose.

You also can order one of seven specialty calzones and six specialty Stromboli's or one of 13 subs.

The Beef, Pork and Chicken menu offers 11 choices. The most unique is Richee B's own Pulled Pork Tacos (Slow roasted pulled pork with black pepper vinaigrette, served in soft flour tortillas with pickled red onions and a side of spicy green onion slaw. Finished with a cilantro-lime sour cream drizzle and a siricha cream drizzle, it is easy to see why this is a favorite.)

Want a great burger? Go to the Build your Burger, Dogs and Sandwich menu. Choose your protein (try the flat top grilled black angus stuffed burger made with two 4 oz. patties stuffed with cheese of your choice - a much requested choice), choose your bread, cheese, and you can add premium toppings and sauces to make it your custom built entre. Don't want to decide? Go to the Sandwiches and Wraps menu and have Three Little Pigs (roasted center cut pork loin, sliced pit ham, pecan smoked bacon finished with cheddar cheese, chipotle mayo, lettuce and tomato) or the Shrimp and Gorgonzola Wrap (blackened shrimp, gorgonzola, grilled pears, candied pecans, red onion and spring greens with a roasted tomato vinaigrette) or one of the other 13 choices from this menu.

Lighter fare is offered in the Soups and Salads menu with six choices like the Spicy Classic Chili (mix of ground beef and ground pork, assorted fresh chilies, tomatoes, kidney beans and a touch of beer and served with red onion and fresh cilantro) being the most popular or the Italian Tortellini Soup (pan seared pecan smoked bacon, shallots, garlic and green peas in a chicken stock with cheese filled tortellini and finished with heavy cream and fresh grated Pecorino-Romano cheese) being the most unique with each order made to order.

Salads are also very popular with seven choices. Signature salad, Gorgonzola Salad (gorgonzola, grilled pears, candied pecans and red onion atop a bed of mixed greens and finished with a balsamic reduction drizzled and served with a roasted red pepper dressing and options like blackened shrimp, salmon or scallops) and the very popular Black and Bleu Salad (blackened 6 oz. Black Angus sirloin, bleu cheese crumbles atop a bed of romaine hearts with fresh tomato, served with homemade bleu cheese dressing and a balsamic reduction drizzle).

There is a special Pre-Game Warm Up menu consisting of 12 items to munch on while having a cold brew watching the game or one of Richee B's Signature Sliders designed to be bite sized so that you have your hands free to cheer your team on. According to Richee "with our wings, we wanted to make it easy - when we say "mild," it is mild, when we say "obnoxious" it is made with a six-pepper blend and we make all sauces on site. It is a ridiculously hot sauce. On our upcoming menu, look for our "heat-seeking menu" for those many fans of hot food items - there will be a heat-seeker pizza along with hot sauces. We believe in big, bold flavors here. "

Last but not least and certainly not forgotten are the tots. The topic brings a smile to everyone's face as tots are something that everyone has had and remembers from childhood. Richee B's has taken it to the next level and made them an entre unto themselves. There are 25 on the menu and they are rotated periodically. If you have had a stressful day, read the tots menu! Tots of Italy (crispy tots seasoned with garlic salt and tossed with chunks of crispy chicken tenders, topped with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese and finished with a sprinkle of parmesan), Tots Benedict (a bed of crispy seasoned tots covered with pit ham, topped with a fried egg and finished with a drizzle of hollandaise sauce) or the new Tot Cubana (crispy seasoned tots covered with roast pork loin, ham and melted Swiss cheese and finished with a mustard cream sauced and chopped pickle pieces), to mention a very few, will bring a smile to your face!

Richee announces that soon to open at the 16thPlaceExperience will be NiteCaps, which will be opening and catering to the 40+ crowd with entertainment have dinner, come in for coffee and dessert or just see the show.

"We want to be a destination location. People usually like to go to their favorite restaurant once a week. We wanted to be a location where people had a wider variety of choices and could come twice a week."

Richee closes with "Conceptually, what we wanted to come up with was a place that locals could appreciate; locals could come see locals and visit. But I firmly believe that Cape Coral needed strong, bold flavors. People have embraced us ridiculously. I think we have a great product. Our pizza put us on the map and our restaurant has been everything we wanted it to be. We wanted sports, great food and great atmosphere. If you want to bring your family, it is kid friendly and intimate enough for a dating couple to enjoy a beautiful prime rib. We are local people wanting to serve local people and we aren't a national chain and are happy to be at this location in Cape Coral."
